Job summary

Braen Stone Industries is seeking an Equipment Operator for its Haledon quarry in New Jersey. The role involves operating heavy equipment (backhoes, loaders) to move materials, load and unload, and crush recycled materials. You will perform yard duties and inspect machinery to ensure safe operation.

Hours are typically 6am–6pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays required and potential seasonal lay-offs. The position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime, with benefits provided through Local

Job Description

FLSA Classification: Laborer

Overtime Status: Non- Exempt

Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Equipment Operator for our Haledon quarry.

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 8 hours are worked each day. After a probationary period of sixty (60) days, the employee will be required to join Local #472. Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided through Local #472.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Operate various heavy equipment, including but not limited to backhoes and loaders to move aggregate related materials
Operate heavy equipment to load, unload materials
Operate heavy equipment to crush recycled materials
General Yard duties associated with daily tasks
Inspects equipment/machinery to maintain safe daily operations

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks

Physical Demands:

Must be able to climb, stoop, bend/kneel and squat frequently during general inspection of machinery/equipment
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
Routine pushing/pulling when operating hand controls
Minimal to light level of lifting is occasionally required
Daily checking of equipment/machinery for pre-shift compliance
Ability to lift 50 pounds

Travel: This position is based in Haledon, NJ

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Hours of work are generally 6am to 6pm Monday through Friday (subject to change)
Saturday work will be required
Seasonal lay-offs are a possibility

Pay: $28.85-$29.85/ hour
