The City of Coral Springs is seeking a skilled Public Works Crew Leader to operate heavy equipment and lead crews on diverse maintenance projects. You will perform repairs on City facilities, manage work orders, and ensure safety compliance on a day-to-day basis.
Qualified candidates have 3–4 years in Public Works, with two years operating heavy equipment and valid Florida CDL Class B. DOT Zone Intermediate certification is required, and you will communicate with residents as needed.
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled maintenance and construction work through the operation of heavy equipment and machinery. Employee possesses journeyman knowledge of various public services construction, repair and maintenance activities policies and procedures. Employee performs all work according to established safety standards, codes and regulations applicable to the work. Employee works with independence and limited supervision, and functions in a lead capacity in the absence of a supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED. Three (3) to four (4) years of responsible experience in Public Works/construction, to include two (2) years experience in the operation of heavy equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must posses and maintain a valid Class "B" Florida Commercial Drivers License. Must possess and maintain Department of Transportation Zone Intermediate Certificate.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
