Job description

The Equipment Operator is responsible for supporting production operations by performing routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance tasks, and simple tool or consumable replacements. This role helps ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently by identifying issues early and maintaining cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.

The Equipment Operator works closely with Equipment Technicians and production teams to report issues, support line changeovers, and follow standard work instructions. While also aiding in fault recovery and training. Room for growth and potential to promote to Equipment Technician.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and perform inspections, lubrication, parts replacements, and other preventative maintenance tasks based on a set schedule.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Collaborate with other workers to repair machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Prevent future equipment failures by completing routine line inspections and repair issues as they’re identified.
  • Communicate, make a plan of action, and elevate issues identified during inspections in a timely manner.
  • Perform repairs to machines including equipment, filters, and wiring replacements.
  • Inventory machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
  • Read and follow Work Instructions.
  • Manage work orders by monitoring, organizing, and registering them.
  • Work with other teams to collect information and present at weekly meetings.
  • Follow company existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area.
  • Become familiar with production processes, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Become familiar and efficient with all phases of the computer system required for managing spare parts.
  • Spare warehouse management (proper quantity check, ordering, inventory management).
  • Line change-over/verification: Lead line change-overs, verify proper function and quality is met before releasing the line for full production.
  • Regularly replace the fixturing tools (e.g. mold, cutter, sealing tool, etc.) required for production, adjust conditions, and ensure quality.
  • Participate in cross-training, continuous improvement initiatives and skill development programs designed to build technical competency and support potential advancement to Equipment Technician positions.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

Technical or vocational training preferred but not required.

This position supports continuous manufacturing operations. Employees are expected to demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability to ensure safe and efficient production operations.

Team members must be able to work scheduled shifts, overtime as required, and maintain dependable attendance in accordance with company attendance policies.

Experience:

0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or related field preferred.

Entry‑level candidates with mechanical aptitude encouraged to apply.

Knowledge and experience with the production process, complex manufacturing, robotics, pneumatics, and more.

Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period up to 12 hours: safety glasses, ear protection.
  • Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours: lift, push, and pull materials or equipment; stoop, twist, and bend; sit and/or stand for extended periods; use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems.
  • Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals.
  • Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment.
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory.
  • Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas.
  • Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment.
