Position Overview:

As an Equipment Operator, you play a crucial role in the installation of telecommunications underground infrastructure utilizing various types of equipment. You will be responsible for tasks such as installation of underground conduit, vaults/pedestals, and fiber and/or coax cable. Additionally, you will interpret construction drawings, understand design prints and work orders to install utilities within specifications. Your attention to detail, skills, and commitment to safety will contribute to successful underground construction.

This is an Hourly Non-Exempt position reporting to the Underground Foreman.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Responsibility for daily deliverables and reports
• Maintain a safe work environment following PPE guidelines
• Punctuality and attendance
• Maintain and organize work area, tools, and equipment
• Effective teamwork and communication skills
• Time management skills
• Complete documentation timely

What You’ll Do

• Handle tools and equipment safely and efficiently
• Load/unload materials
• Knowledge of underground hardware and installation methods
• Operate machinery such as mini excavator, skid steer, trenchers, etc.
• Operate underground tools and equipment safely
• Follow 811 locate procedures
• Read and understand design prints and work orders
• Verify and proof existing manhole systems
• Manage traffic control as per DOT guidelines
• Be available 24/7 during on-call rotation
• Work flexibly to meet project needs
