Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support Treeline s construction and forestry operations by safely operating a range of heavy machinery. You will contribute to a steady production flow, perform routine maintenance, and uphold safety standards in all weather and terrain conditions.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class B license (Class A is a plus), and the ability to work independently or in a team while following detailed instructions from supervision.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Class B license current; Class A is a plus.
  • Able to safely operate heavy equipment (exca-vator, bulldozer, skid steer, dump truck, etc.).
  • Knowledge of mechanical functioning and ability to repair equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support construction and forestry operations.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with OSHA guidelines.
  • Communicate collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Cross-train in other site roles as directed by the foreman.

Job description

  • Support Treeline’s construction and forestry operations by safely operating heavy equipment
  • Ensure efficient production flow and proper handling of logs and lumber
  • Contribute to and maintain a safe working environment
  • Communicate positively and collaboratively with team members and customers in person, by cellphone, and via two-way radio
  • Maintain an OSHA-approved first aid kit
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively to minimize risks of injury, property damage, or loss of life
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance
  • Advise the Job Foreman of maintenance or repair requirements
  • Cross-train in other positions as directed by the site foreman
  • Work efficiently as a team member
  • Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current valid Class B Driver’s License; Class A is a plus but not required
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, compactors, front end loaders, delimbers, skidders, skid steers, dump trucks, and other machinery
  • Knowledge of mechanical functioning of equipment components
  • Ability to manage repairs related to equipment problems
  • Ability to repair equipment according to regulations and specifications
  • Ability to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management
  • Ability to work independently and in group situations
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics
  • Compliance with company safety rules and OSHA safety guidelines
  • Ability to use safety-related equipment
  • Ability to perform Lockout/Tagout as required
  • Ability to demonstrate visual and auditory acuity for safe equipment operation
  • Ability to climb in and out of machinery and remain seated for prolonged periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and slippery icy or muddy conditions
  • Required to wear company-furnished PPE
