Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, and stage materials using mobile equipment and manual labor.
• Sort, inspect, and identify scrap materials; remove non-conforming items.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment (loaders, forklifts, balers, crushers, rail yard vehicles).
• Process, weigh, and store finished materials and bales in designated locations.
• Perform equipment inspections and assist with maintenance; support plant operations.
• Manage yard logistics: trailer placement, railcar switching, and fluid removal from incoming materials.
• Assist customers and drivers; support general labor and operational needs.

FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for an Operator at one of our Canton, OH locations . The Equipment Operator is responsible for the processing of scrap metals using various tools and equipment including front end loaders.Summary of Responsibilities:Maintain a safe, clean work environment through PPE compliance, hazard prevention, and housekeeping.Load, unload, move, and stage materials using mobile equipment and manual labor as needed.Sort, inspect, and identify scrap materials, ensuring proper grading and removal of non-conforming items.Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, balers, crushers, and rail/yard vehicles.Process, weigh, and store finished materials and bales in designated inventory locations.Perform equipment inspections, assist with maintenance activities, and support overall plant operations.Manage yard logistics, including trailer/container placement, railcar switching, and fluid removal from incoming materials.Assist customers and drivers while supporting general labor and operational needs across the facility.Minimum Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age.High School Diploma/GED or may consider 1+ years of equipment operator experience.Ability to work independentlyMust be able to read, write, and perform basic math.Good communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain accurate recordsAbility to follow oral and written communicationAbility to climb ladders or steps to reach objectsAbility to endure physical and outdoor work on a daily basis.Ability to lift up to 50lbs.Work cooperatively with other employees and the publicMust be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather.Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen requiredPay range for this position is $20.50 - $29.50Ferrous Processing and Trading is a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
