Job summary

Recology Blossom Valley Organics North in Vernalis is seeking an Equipment Operator to sort, position, stage, and load waste and recyclables for safe transport and efficient removal from the site.

This role requires working Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with emphasis on safety, equipment checks, and maintaining a clean work area. Strong communication with customers and teamwork are important to success.

Qualifications

• Three years of related experience, including operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of job-site safety practices and regulations.
• Basic computer skills.
• HS diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as a loader, dozer, or excavator as required.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Interact professionally with customers and maintain good relations.
• Perform daily pre- and post-shift safety and equipment inspections.
• Report issues promptly to the appropriate authority.
• Support other operational areas as needed.
• Report all accidents or safety violations promptly.

THE ROLE OF EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Operates heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, excavator or similar equipment, as applicable to location.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Maintains good customer relations and interacts in a professional manner with customers.
• Performs daily routine safety and equipment operation checks including pre- and post-shift inspections on assigned equipment.
• Reports issues to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner.
• Supports other areas of the operation as needed.
• Reports all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of related experience, including experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations including applicable waste regulation.
• Basic computer programs.
• High school degree or GED preferred.
