Job summary

JE Dunn Construction in the United States is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to provide routine and non-routine maintenance and repair of construction equipment in support of our Blue Hat Equipment operations.

You will follow manufacturer specifications, document work, communicate with field operations, and manage parts orders and storage. This role emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and teamwork in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Apprentice program or vocational training in equipment repair preferred.
• Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal training.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and diagnostic inspections on construction equipment.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns on-site or remotely with clear communication to field operations.
• Document maintenance and repairs accurately in the system.
• Communicate with internal and external partners via phone and email for maintenance inquiries.
• Order parts using the work order system per manufacturer requirements.
• Organize, store, and distribute equipment parts and supplies.

Role Summary

The Equipment Mechanic will provide routine and non-routine maintenance support to the day-to-day Blue Hat Equipment operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment as per manufacturer’s specification. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Performs routine preventative maintenance, diagnostic equipment inspections, and repair operations on breakdowns for construction equipment per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns on site or via the phone using effective communications skills with field operations.
• Responsible for the accurate documentation and data entry for completed maintenance and repairs.
• Responsible for timely communication to internal and external business partners through phone calls and responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
• Orders parts for equipment repair using the work order system by determining manufacturer requirements and specifications.
• Receives, organizes, stores, and distributes equipment parts and supplies.

• Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner

• Ability to provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers
• Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance operations including: engine oil changes, hydraulic pump and cylinder functions, diesel engine operations, basic electrical functions
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally

Education

• High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
• Apprentice Program or Vocational training on equipment repair (Preferred)
• In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered

Experience

• 2+ years mechanic or maintenance operations (Preferred)

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
• Typically travel is not required
• May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
• Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling
• Occasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
