Job summary

Gulf Island in Houma, LA is seeking a maintenance technician to repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical and pneumatic systems on yard equipment such as hoists, lifts, forklifts, dozers, and trucks. The role requires hands-on ability to read service manuals, use a variety of hand and power tools, and follow safety rules.

Applicants should have at least two years of experience and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical, plus a background check.

Responsibilities

• Climb and work on and around equipment, using ladders, steps, etc.

• Operate mechanic hand, power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic systems.
• Use a burning torch and torque wrench.
• Operate portable and shop blasting equipment.
• Adhere to all OSHA safety rules and regulations and be familiar with safety equipment.

Repair and maintenance engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulics, and electrical and pneumatic systems on a variety of yard equipment, including hoisting equipment, manlift/scissor lifts, forklift/loaders, dozer/side booms, pipe mill, fab shop equipment, burning equipment, painting and blasting equipment, compressors, winches, trucks, and other vehicles. The position requires the ability to perform a range of duties as assigned.

• Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations and be familiar with safety equipment
• Climb and work in high areas and confined spaces
• Keep work areas clean and in orderly condition
• Comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

• Ratchets, sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, mallets, pry bars, picks, torque wrenches, impact tools, electrical measuring tools, etc.

Environmental Conditions

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. The role involves working in various temperature conditions (hot, cold), humidity, wet and dry environments, dust, mud, and exposure to paint thinner and paint fumes.
