Job summary

Asplundh Construction, LLC is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, service, and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles, ensuring safe, reliable operation across crews. You’ll operate within a 50-hour week with overtime after 40 hours, and be paid according to local union hall rates.

The role reports to the Fleet Manager / Shop Supervisor within Fleet Operations / Equipment Maintenance, with benefits provided through IBEW Local 1393 and a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to safely operate an approved company vehicle.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair equipment by replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and related assemblies.

Job Title: Equipment Mechanic
Employment Type: Full-Time+, Non-Exempt. Current schedule is 50 hours a week (Overtime rate applied after 40 hours), but may change to fit needs of crews.
Department: Fleet Operations / Equipment Maintenance
Reports To: Fleet Manager / Shop Supervisor
Pay: Competitive Hourly Rate in alignment with local union hall rates.

Position Summary

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Perform all necessary equipment repairs, including replacement of worn or damaged parts.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Inspect critical operating components for wear, defects, and damage.
  • Test machinery and equipment for safe operation.
  • Perform welding repairs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to safely operate an approved company vehicle.
Experience With Hydraulic Systems Preferred.

Must be willing to join the applicable local union and pay required dues.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Driver License required.
  • Class A CDL with Air Brake Endorsement preferred.
