Job summary

Meyer Building, a growing general contractor just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana, is seeking a dependable Equipment Mechanic to keep our equipment, vehicles, and tools operating safely and efficiently.

You will work alongside our Maintenance Lead and Production Manager to support crews that build our projects daily, with opportunities to learn across engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and fabrication. Competitive pay and company‑paid CDL training are offered.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on small engines.
  • Beginner to intermediate welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience with construction equipment, trailers, or fleet vehicles preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve mechanical problems using troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on construction equipment, fleet vehicles, trailers, and support equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine‑related issues.
  • Maintain power equipment including small engines, generators, compressors, concrete, and hand tools.
  • Conduct routine inspections to keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
  • Assist with light welding and fabrication projects.
  • Help maintain an organized, safe, and efficient maintenance shop.
  • Improve preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability.
  • Transport equipment between the shop and job sites as needed.
  • Earn a company‑paid CDL to expand your skills and support field operations.
  • Pitch in on special projects that help keep Meyer Building running efficiently.

We are looking for a dependable, mechanically minded Equipment Mechanic to help keep our equipment, vehicles, and tools operating safely and efficiently. This position works alongside our Maintenance Lead and Production Manager to support the crews that build our projects every day.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and must be at least 25 years old due to insurance requirements.
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Meyer Building will cover the cost of CDL training as applicable.
  • Must be able to safely lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday. Must pass a pre‑employment DOT physical.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to supporting the success of the team.
