Job description

Join our team at Air Technical Industries, where your skills as an Industrial Welder-Fitter will directly contribute to enhancing workplace safety and ergonomics. You'll be part of a team that transforms raw materials into a variety of heavy-duty lifting equipment. This isn't just about welding; it's about crafting solutions that improve the quality of life for workers. Your role involves the precise layout, fitting, and welding of structural steel and heavy weldments, ensuring each piece meets our high standards of quality and safety. This entails hands-on fabrication, custom-fitting, final welding, and weld clean-up in the production of heavy-duty industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings is a must. This position requires a problem solver because some custom builds need creative attention on the shop floor. This is a full-time, permanent, direct-hire position including base wage, opportunity to earn production bonuses and a great benefits package including 401(k), health insurance, paid holidays and vacation, uniforms, and work boot reimbursement.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to lay out and fabricate components.
  • Fit, align, and weld heavy steel structures used in cranes, lift tables, upenders, and other custom handling equipment.
  • Perform MIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding (vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions).
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, magnetic drills, and overhead cranes.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet tolerances and quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to solve fabrication challenges.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of welding and fitting experience in heavy steel fabrication (preferably in cranes, material handling, or industrial machinery).
  • Proficient in MIG and Flux-Cored welding; Stick welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings.
  • Experience with heavy plate fabrication and large weldments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Familiarity with aerospace or primary metals industry standards is a plus.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes (certification preferred).
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding shop environment.
Compensation
