Regional Equipment / Maintenance Manager

Lead a 300+ piece heavy equipment fleet. Support major regional projects. Build toward Regional Equipment leadership.

We are partnering with a top-tier U.S. specialty contractor to appoint an experienced Equipment / Fleet professional to lead equipment operations across Columbus and Southern Ohio.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of equipment operations across the Southern Ohio region, supporting multiple major heavy civil projects and ensuring the company’s equipment is available, productive, properly maintained, and deployed where it creates the most value.

The wider fleet includes 300+ pieces of heavy equipment, with two major projects alone expected to require 150+ pieces of yellow iron each.

This is much more than a maintenance position.

You will sit at the intersection of equipment, operations, projects, and field leadership, helping ensure the right equipment is in the right place, at the right time, and operating efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Equipment allocation and utilization across multiple projects
• Preventative maintenance and repair planning
• Fleet availability and reliability
• Equipment logistics and movement between projects
• Maintenance scheduling and coordination
• Monitoring equipment performance and operating costs
• Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and senior operations leadership
• Leading and developing equipment and maintenance personnel
• Supporting longer-term fleet planning and capital requirements
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, uptime, and productivity

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical equipment knowledge with the leadership ability to operate at a regional level.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of heavy equipment experience within construction, contracting, or a related environment
• Ideally 2+ years of equipment, fleet, or maintenance management experience
• Strong knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment and yellow iron
• Experience supporting multiple projects or operating locations
• A solid understanding of preventative maintenance, repairs, utilization, logistics, and equipment costs
• Experience leading equipment, maintenance, or field personnel
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with project and operational leadership
• A safety-first approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment

Experience within heavy civil, excavation, earthwork, demolition, site development, mining, or specialty contracting is strongly preferred.
