Job summary

Kent School seeks an Equipment Manager to support its Athletics program. Under the Athletics Director, you will procure, receive, and distribute athletic equipment and maintain accurate records for in-season gear.

You will work closely with coaches to ensure equipment needs are met and contribute to uniform cycles and inventory control. You will manage laundering, storage, and conditioning of gear, coordinate with suppliers, and help implement team stores while ensuring readiness for practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of education and work experience in related fields.
  • Preferably in an independent school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Procuring, and receiving all athletic equipment.
  • Distributing athletic gear to students, faculty and staff.
  • Collecting, and storing all athletic equipment.
  • General upkeep and basic care of uniforms and equipment.
  • Working to retire and replenish equipment as needed, including establishing a uniform cycle for each team.
  • Laundering of uniforms and practice gear and returning it as needed by each team.
  • Reconditioning of gear (i.e. helmets, goalie gear),and maintaining the equipment room.
  • Thorough, accurate, and up-to-date recordkeeping of in-season school-owned equipment and uniforms loaned to student athletes.
  • Preseason fitting of protective gear (helmets, shoulderpads, etc.).
  • Postseason billing to student accounts for equipment and uniforms losses (ODIN).
  • Purchasing of athletic uniforms and equipment utilizing a bid system with emphasis on cost management and quality control.
  • Monitoring the check-out window of the equipment room,to pass out necessary gear, uniforms, and equipment.
  • In concert with coaches, our MarComm office, and our suppliers, develop and execute the team stores.
  • At least once per week, inspect the fitness center machines and equipment (including weights) and order repair or replacement as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Grounds and Facilities Technician to ensure all athletic facilities are functionally and aesthetically ready for use each day.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned by the Athletic Director.

Job Details

Title: Equipment Manager
Reports to: Athletics Director
Schedule/travel: Full-time academic year position (about 40 work weeks, August through early June). The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, and 0.5 day Saturdays while School is in session. Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be required. Schedule includes a 0.5 unpaid lunch period, and may vary according to the needs of the Athletics Office and Kent School.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Classification: Staff

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Athletics Director, the Equipment Manager is responsible for procuring, receiving, and distributing all athletic equipment necessary to support the Kent School athletic program. Frequent interaction with coaches to ensure all equipment needs are met is critical.

Qualifications

  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and have an aptitude for learning new technology and software.
  • Hold a current Public Service License, or be willing to secure one.
Physical Requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires substantial movement (motions) of wrists, hands, and fingers with keyboard use.
  • Visual acuity within normal parameters.
  • Ability to use a visual display.
  • Ability to frequently lift and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs. and, occasionally, 50 lbs. or more with assistance.
  • Must be able to work at high heights periodically, utilizing ladders and/or motorized lifts
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and perform other physical movements necessary to complete job duties.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
