Job summary

Armada Inc. in Connecticut is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and disconnection of electrical operations at assigned job sites.

The role requires knowledge of safety protocols, ability to read schematic drawings, and experience with three-phase high voltage systems, with occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in manufacturing and marine industries.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings and interpret complex instructions.
  • Knowledge of three-phase high voltage and control circuits.
  • Color vision is required.
  • Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematical calculations.
  • Strong problem solving and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Install, connect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Test and maintain electronic controls for machinery.
  • Test and assess motors, transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance by inspecting equipment and addressing issues before breakdowns.
  • Advise management and complete repairs promptly to minimize safety hazards and costs.
  • Replace circuit breakers, fuses, switches, and electrical components or wires.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components using hand and power tools and testing equipment.
  • Set up equipment prior to startup and disconnect after project completion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TITLE: Equipment Maintenance Technician
REPORTS TO: Equipment Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY RANGE: $25.00-$30.00 per hour DOE
FT / PT STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities
SUMMARY

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and disconnection of electrical operations present at assigned job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, connect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems
  • Test and maintain electronic controls for machinery
  • Test and assess motors, transformers, generators, electronic controllers on machine tools
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance by periodically inspecting equipment, then locating and correcting problems before breakdowns occur
  • Advise management of and make repairs to equipment in timely manner to minimize safety hazards, lost time, and excessive costs
  • Replace items such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical components or wires
  • Troubleshoot, and repair or replace mechanical components of our equipment as necessary. Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment in a safe and productive manner
  • Set, hook up, and test equipment prior to startup of a given project, disconnect upon project completion
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • May be required to direct, assist or train less experienced employees
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in the manufacturing and marine industries
  • Knowledge of three-phase high voltage, control circuits, and be able to read schematic drawings
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex written, oral, or diagramed instructions
  • Ability to read schematic drawings.
  • Color vision is required
  • Ability to carry out written or verbal instruction
  • Ability to do simple to complex math
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Highschool Dimploma or Equivalent
  • Formal or informal on the job experience, or
  • Technical or Trade school preferred
  • Forklift License (Company May Provide)
  • OSHA-10 (Company May Provide)
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
  • Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • May be required to wear a respirator
  • Some travel may be required
