As a Forklift Mechanic, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of all forklifts, material handling equipment, and related machinery within the warehouse. The Forklift Mechanic will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring equipment operates optimally and minimizes downtime.
Maintenance/forklift mechanic experience in warehouse settings required.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts.
- Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed.
- Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.
- Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.
- Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.
- Ability to work on systems, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs.
- Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operation.
- Complete tire and wheel maintenance
- Complete battery maintenance and charging
- Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
- Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks, both Paper and in CMMS computer program.
- Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with changing technology.
- Assist when needed with other plant maintenance on conveyor systems.
- Ability to weld Steel using Stick and Mig process is desirable.
- Effectively communicate and engage with all levels of the organization as well as key suppliers and customers
- Complete daily end-of-shift work order updates and other required reports.
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping and safety in assigned departments.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualification: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Able to use and operate various types of testing equipment and meters.
- Previous experience with electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Understand associated maintenance of lead acid batteries.
- Can operate hand and power tools
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping and safety in assigned departments.
- Two or more years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various lift trucks such as Crown and or Raymond with lift ratings up to 12,000 lbs.
- Manufacturing, automotive, military or recent trade school graduates with applied skills.
- Solid foundation of mechanical aptitude and ability along with knowledge of industrial electricity up to 480 volts would be preferred.
- Valid unrestricted driver's license
- Able to work safely and follow company rules and procedures.

- Continuously perform repetitive physical tasks involving frequent walking, reaching, bending, lifting, twisting, pushing/pulling, and standing.
- Physical ability to safely perform job functions with or without aid of mechanical equipment
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally team lift up to 100 pounds.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts (rollers).
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to hot/cold weather/air depending upon the season. Employee is occasionally exposed to dust.
