Job summary

Crete Carrier Corporation is seeking an on-site Vehicle Inspector to thoroughly inspect tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires for safety-critical defects in a busy shop environment.

You will document findings in the maintenance system, communicate issues to drivers and technicians, and support repairs while maintaining strong relationships with shop staff and drivers. The role requires reliability and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced setting.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Inspects in-bound tractors and trailers to identify operating and DOT defects, ensuring safety and compliance.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts thorough inspections of tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires.
• Records identified defects in the maintenance system.
• Communicates identified defects to the driver and shop personnel to administer repairs.
• Maintains positive relationships with shop staff and drivers.
• Receives and carries out instructions.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced, noisy environment around moving equipment.
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
• Must be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
• Good vision to inspect repair work.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

• DOT brake inspection certification as required by supervisor and/or location
