About ProBio

ProBio proactively provides end-to-end CDMO service from drug discovery to commercialization with proactive strategies, professional solutions and efficient processes in cell and gene therapy (CGT), vaccine, biologics discovery and antibody protein drug to accelerate drug development for customers. ProBio’s total cell and gene therapy solution covers CMC of plasmid and virus for IND filing as well as clinical manufacturing and commercial manufacturing. In terms of plasmid service, ProBio supports the most clinical approvals for CGT drugs including mRNA vaccines, CAR-T in China. Job Scope:

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Equipment Engineer to help build our in-house repair and maintenance capabilities for critical laboratory and production equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, preferably with experience from instrument manufacturers or field service roles. This position plays a vital role in minimizing downtime, controlling costs, and setting up sustainable preventive maintenance (PM) systems.

Details: This is a full-time role based onsite in Piscataway, NJ.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of lab instruments, including: Tecan liquid handlers, automated colony screeners, tip washer, automated DNA Purification, Titrator, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, etc.
  • Develop and implement in-house preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration programs; draft SOPs, support CMMS (e.g., Limble), and help train junior team members
  • Serve as internal technical expert on key instrumentation; Serve as the first-line responder for lab equipment issues, perform basic root cause analysis, and coordinate with external vendors as needed
  • Support the long-term goal of building a sustainable internal equipment maintenance team

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in maintaining or repairing lab equipment in a biotech, life sciences, or medical device environment
  • Familiarity with common lab instruments; experience with Tecan or other automation platforms is desired
  • Proven ability to establish or improve PM/CMMS (e.g., Limble) systems and develop technical SOPs
  • Experience in root cause analysis, deviation handling, and CAPA implementation
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience at instrument manufacturers (OEMs) or third-party service vendors is a strong plus
