Job summary

Kiewit seeks an Equipment Engineer Intern to support regional construction and mining operations. You will help plan, schedule, budget, and maintain an equipment fleet while learning best practices in reliability and preventative maintenance.

The internship runs May/June 2027 with opportunities for travel across the United States. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel or relocate as needed
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (May–August)
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree related to mechanical fields
• Ability to access construction sites across varied climates and environments
• Demonstrated ethics, initiative, and safety focus

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Material handling and procurement
• Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation
• Inspect equipment and parts
• Coordinate logistics and communication
• Plan, schedule, and budget long/short range equipment
• Prepare paperwork for critical lifts and projects
• Use data to improve equipment availability and reliability
• Support maintenance crews with parts ordering and scheduling
• Assist with special projects as needed
