Job description

Job Description

Caelux is a pioneering leader in the field of perovskite solar cell technology, committed to revolutionizing the renewable energy sector with cutting-edge innovations. We are at the forefront of developing full-scale, high-efficiency, cost-effective solar solutions and are looking for an experienced Equipment Engineer II (Solution Printing Equipment Focus) to elevate our processes. The solar market has grown 15X in the last decade and shows no signs of slowing down. The global solar power market is now over $200B/year and accounts for 50% of new electricity-generating capacity additions in the USA. Solar-generated electricity is now cheaper than that generated by coal or oil.

Job Functions

Caelux’s process depends critically on the uniform deposition of thin films of liquid solutions that are rapidly dried to form perovskite crystals. In this role, you will be the engineer helping deploy and maintain production tools for liquid film deposition. You will also have opportunities to learn a wide array of other tools adopted from the semiconductor and glass industries to enable Caelux’s unique process.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Developing (with support of process engineers) engineering packages for acquisition, development, installation, and bring-up of new solution-deposition and other liquid-phase tools. This includes RFQ, facilities matrix, P&ID, line lists, safety analysis, build surveillance, factory and site acceptance testing, installation, controls tuning, spares planning, energy control plans, operation and maintenance SOPs.
  2. Supporting lab R&D team with mechanical design of custom laboratory apparatus.
  3. Troubleshooting equipment, corrective maintenance, and upgrades of lab and fab equipment. Set and support preventive maintenance schedule.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, plus 3 – 7 years’ experience, or Master’s degree plus 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience with printing, coating, or other thin-film deposition and drying processes in a manufacturing environment, preferably optics or semiconductor.
  • Understanding of common tools and typical components and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Good engineering practices (safety, documentation, calibration).
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. Must be able to work at bench-height lab equipment and climb short stepladders to access service access ports located approximately 6 feet off the floor.

Knowledge and experience (not all are expected, competitive candidates will have some)

  • Experience with thin-film diagnostics e.g. four-point-probe, profilometer, transmission and reflectance.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD.
  • Awareness of common industrial equipment-related safety standards such as NFPA 70, NEC/NFPA 79, and OSHA requirements.
  • Understanding of controls engineering, PLC/PAC controllers and IEC 6113103 (ladder, FBD, structured text, SFC), and communication networks (Modbus, EtherCAT, Profibus, Serial) a plus (but not required).

Benefits

• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses

• Comprehensive health and wellness benefits

• Retirement plan and company match

• Stock options

• Opportunities for professional development and growth

• Collaborative and innovative work environment
