Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking an Equipment Engineer in the Binghamton, NY area to join an established advanced components manufacturer. The role emphasizes hands-on reliability, troubleshooting, and process improvement to maximize uptime across mixed automated and legacy equipment.

Responsibilities include diagnosing PLC/HMI, machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, and tooling; leading automation projects, coordinating with vendors, and mentoring junior staff on the shop

Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on automation, equipment, or manufacturing engineering experience.
Strong mechanical/electro-mechanical troubleshooting with PLC/HMI and industrial controls.
Experience with automated manufacturing equipment including machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, tooling/fixtures, welding, fastening, or automated inspection.
Strong shop-floor manufacturing experience, project leadership, root-cause problem solving, and equipment/vendor coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, commission, and optimize new automated equipment and existing legacy machinery to maximize equipment uptime and production performance.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and process-related issues involving PLC/HMI systems, machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, welding, fastening, sensors, tooling, and fixtures.
Use PLC/HMI systems primarily for equipment troubleshooting and problem localization, coordinating with equipment suppliers when programming changes or additional technical support are required.
Lead equipment and automation projects including vendor coordination, installation, validation, production ramp-up, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, technicians, and outside vendors while providing technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers and technicians.
