Job summary

Stellant Systems is seeking an Equipment Engineer in Torrance, CA to design, modify and build specialized test equipment (STE) used for high-voltage testing of Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs). You will troubleshoot and maintain high-voltage power supplies up to 60 kV and work with a team of technicians.

The role involves overseeing the design and fabrication of STEs, collaborating with vendors, and ensuring proper documentation and operation of equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in electronic troubleshooting including test equipment design and fabrication.
• Experience troubleshooting high-voltage power supplies (up to 60kV) is a plus.
• Strong analog-to-digital troubleshooting skills with measurement tools.
• Knowledge of data acquisition units, three-phase resonant conversion theory, and network interfacing is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and team-oriented mindset.
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and travel occasionally to vendors.
• U.S. government security clearance eligibility required.

Job Title: Equipment Engineer

Job location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $90,000-$130,000/yr DOE

Responsibilities

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Equipment Engineer at our Torrance, California location. This is an ideal role for an adaptable engineer or experienced technical specialist looking to expand their skills in high-voltage systems, test fixture design, and equipment modification—including custom projects like high-potential (hi-pot) safety and testing gear. In this role you will design, modify and build specialized test equipment (STE) used in testing Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs). You will also work closely with our technician repair group to troubleshoot, repair and maintain high-voltage switching power supplies (up to 60KV) and other related test equipment. Responsibilities will include oversight of the design, documentation and fabrication of all Special Test Equipment, work with vendors in the test equipment design process and the operation of that equipment.

Qualifications

• You will need at least 4 years of electronic troubleshooting experience that includes designing and fabricating electronic test equipment, with in-depth knowledge of standard electronic equipment.
• Experience in troubleshooting high-voltage power supplies (up to 60KV) is a plus.
• Should have strong analog-to-digital troubleshooting skills and be proficient using DMM’s, oscilloscopes and power meters.
• Knowledge of data acquisition units, three-phase resonant conversion theory, PC-based controllers and network interfacing is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a team-first mindset.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environmentand coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to travel occasionally to vendor locations.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET), or equivalent practical/military experience.
