The role evaluates mechanical and electrical components for availability, compatibility, replacement options, and long-term supportability, while working closely with maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and project stakeholders. This position identifies at‑risk components, develops replacement strategies, maintains technical documentation, and supports equipment upgrade implementation. Experience with CNC, PLC, and manual machines is essential, along with strong documentation development, process support, and project scheduling capabilities. This is a hands‑on role for a self‑driven professional who takes ownership of assignments, learns quickly, and collaborates effectively within a cross‑functional team.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate mechanical and electrical equipment issues to identify failed or at‑risk components and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Review mechanical, electrical, and assembly drawings to determine appropriate repair and replacement parts for manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and implementation of component upgrades and equipment improvement projects across CNC, PLC, and manual machines.
  • Track project milestones, follow‑up items, vendor deliverables, and implementation schedules to ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Recommend new technologies and replacement strategies to enhance long‑term equipment reliability and supportability.
  • Lead or support project planning and management activities, including defining scope, timelines, and resource needs for equipment‑related projects.
  • Coordinate communications and follow‑up meetings with OEMs and suppliers to obtain technical information, parts, and support for equipment upgrades and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment records, part lists, and upgrade documentation, to support ongoing maintenance and reliability efforts.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to align equipment reliability initiatives with manufacturing needs and schedules.
  • Utilize reliability engineering principles, project tracking tools, and structured troubleshooting methods to drive continuous improvement in equipment performance.
Essential Skills

  • Ability to investigate machining issues and perform effective troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, and machine documentation to identify repair and replacement parts.
  • Hands‑on experience with reliability engineering concepts and part obsolescence management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated capability in project planning, project management, and project plan execution for equipment upgrades and improvement initiatives.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, suppliers, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to support equipment reliability and upgrade projects.
  • Proficiency using CMMS, ERP systems, parts databases, Excel, or similar tools for tracking equipment, parts, and project status.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and document technical information clearly and accurately.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a machining environment.
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Python for data analysis or automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint for documentation management and team collaboration is desirable.
  • Background in data automation or digital tools to streamline equipment tracking, reporting, or project management is beneficial.
  • Exposure to project tracking methodologies and tools to monitor milestones, deliverables, and schedules is an advantage.
