Job summary

TOKYO ELECTRON AMERICA, INC. in Albany, NY seeks an Engineering Technician to design, modify, assemble and test semiconductor reactor systems. You will work in a cleanroom, follow wiring and assembly procedures, and develop test methods from blueprints and diagrams.

You will also support product enhancements for Film Deposition tools, collect data for on-line adjustments and prepare technical reports summarizing findings.

Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

• Design, procure, install, test modifications to improve performance of semiconductor experimental reactors
• Perform a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies or sub-assemblies.
• Follow methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, welding and fitting on assembly units.
• Determine and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams.
• Assist in product enhancement and product development activities related to our advanced Film Deposition tools used in the manufacturing of semiconductors
• Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
• Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process to establish quality standards.
• Work closely with engineers and technical to support a team environment.
• Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems.
• Interface with external vendors on outsourced products and services
• Handle contaminated parts, with appropriate PPE, to rebuilt reactors when implementing new modifications

What to expect

Within the first week

• Complete on-board orientation, safety training, other company and site required training
• Gain access to the cleanroom and other work areas
• Become familiar with how the team communicates using tools such as MS Teams, email, and other

Within the first month

• Become familiar with group goals and your role to meet those goals
• Shadow both hardware and process engineers working in the cleanroom and other work areas
• Pick up at least one independent activity from another team member

Within the first three months

• Be working independently on several projects
• Write up weekly reports on all projects including progress, gaps, budget, timelines and needed parts

Typical Education And Experience

Bachelors Degree

Must be legally authorized to work in US without sponsorship.

Preferred Skills And Education

• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Self-starting individual with strong technical and hands-on skills
• Project Management training recommended
• Proficient in using a Digital Multimeter
• Experienced with wide range of hand tools and power tools used for assembling hardware components
• Able to read and create electrical diagrams
• Possess basic knowledge of safely handling acids and solvents
• Understanding of vacuum systems fundamentals and integral hardware components to achieve and measure low vacuum state

Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds is required. May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing. May require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Duties also include application of proper industry safety procedures when working with dangerous elements or conditions such as chemicals, electric current or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Ranges

$78,485.94 - $110,853.80

Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and/or training. In addition to base salary, we offer (full time regular employees ) a comprehensive benefits package and for certain roles eligibility in our bonus plan and long-term incentives as applicable.
