And we lead the way, taking ownership of our work and helping to shape the future of our field.

Position Overview

Precision BioMEMS is seeking a hands‑on Equipment Engineer to serve as the primary technical owner for our micro‑electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) fabrication facility. This role is designed for an engineer who thrives in the cleanroom, focusing on the direct maintenance, troubleshooting, and hardware optimization of critical Fab equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime through technical mastery of vacuum systems, RF generators, and complex mechanical assemblies, ensuring all work meets rigorous ISO cleanroom standards along with keeping all the facilities equipment running properly. The position will be based in our Addison, Texas office. We are unable to consider remote workers or individuals who are not currently based in the US and not legally authorized to work in the US.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Hardware Support: Perform expert‑level service, repair, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems inside and outside the cleanroom.
  • Tool Performance: Directly execute preventive maintenance procedures and identify ways to increase tool uptime through continuous improvement programs.
  • Installation & Modification: Lead the physical installation of new equipment and perform hardware modifications to improve process stability and performance.
  • Diagnostics: Read and interpret complex schematics (PID, electrical, hydraulic) to diagnose root causes of tool downtime quickly.
  • Documentation: Log all technical actions and hardware changes in the CMMS to maintain an accurate "health record" for every tool.
  • Spare Parts: Evaluate and test replacement parts to ensure compatibility and tool performance.
  • 1‑Month Milestone: Complete orientation and cleanroom integration. Shadow the maintenance team and begin hands‑on familiarization with critical tools.
  • 6‑Month Milestone: Assume primary technical ownership of one or two key tools. Perform routine PMs independently and utilize EZ‑MES/FIIX to log technical data and hardware observations. Conduct a physical spare parts audit for assigned tools.
  • 12‑Month Milestone: Identify specific hardware failure points on critical tools and implement mechanical or electrical improvements. Review and refine PM procedures to be more effective based on hands‑on observations.
  • 2‑Year+ Milestone: Serve as the internal subject‑matter expert (SME) for the assigned tools, significantly reducing our reliance on external field service engineers.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Education & Certifications: BS degree in a technical field (electronics, engineering, or related) or equivalent military training. PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience: 4+ years of hands‑on experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor/microfabrication equipment, specifically within a clean‑room environment.
  • Expertise in preventive maintenance and asset reliability principles as applied to clean‑room standards.
  • Proficiency in CMMS, reading technical drawings (PID, hydraulic, electrical), and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Deep understanding of contamination control principles and standard operating procedures for the Fab environment.
  • Work style: Self‑directed professional with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and the ability to thrive in small, collaborative teams focused on precision.
  • Physical requirements: Work performed within a designated clean‑room environment, requiring strict adherence to gowning procedures (full bunny suit, mask, gloves) and safety protocols. Ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds and maneuver in confined spaces. Involves working with potentially hazardous elements such as specialty gases, wet chemicals, electric currents, and high‑voltage systems, strictly adhering to safety procedures and appropriate PPE.
Salary Information

The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant’s qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
