Job summary

Silent-Aire, a Johnson Controls company, is a leader in modular HVAC systems for data centers and advanced facilities. The Equipment Designer I role supports the design and documentation of custom HVAC equipment, creating 3D models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs under guidance.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to translate concepts into manufacturable designs and provide updated documentation throughout manufacturing and prototyping projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience supporting mechanical equipment design in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and material selection.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation for HVAC equipment and related systems.
• Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings and designs.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and product documentation.
• Ensure drawing accuracy, revision control, and compliance with drafting standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with Designers, Engineers, and Manufacturing personnel to resolve discrepancies and support project deliverables.
• Incorporate design revisions and engineering changes into existing models and drawings.
• Perform basic design checks and manufacturability assessments under guidance of senior staff.
• Support manufacturing, testing, and prototype activities with updated documentation and design support.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain design standards.

What You Will Do

The Equipment Designer I supports the design and documentation of custom HVAC equipment and modular infrastructure solutions by creating and maintaining 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation. Working under the guidance of experienced Designers and Engineers, this role assists in translating engineering concepts, specifications, and project requirements into accurate technical drawings and manufacturable designs.

In this role, you will support engineering projects by updating drawings, implementing design revisions, maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date. You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to address design-related questions and support production activities. This position provides an opportunity to develop technical design skills while gaining experience with custom equipment, manufacturing processes, and engineering best practices in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation for HVAC equipment and related systems.
