Job summary

Corning Incorporated in the United States seeks an equipment development SME to drive the design and delivery of custom, high‑temperature, development‑ or pilot‑scale equipment. You will join fast-paced teams delivering next‑generation systems for advanced materials processing and new product lines.

You will collaborate with process and technology experts to define requirements, lead prototyping, and coordinate with vendors to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience with equipment design, machine design or equipment development.
• Broad knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and tolerance analysis.
• Strong 3D CAD modeling and simulation tools to optimize designs.
• Experience integrating robotics, automation, furnaces, sensors, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead or participate in equipment delivery teams from requirements to testing.
• Design and support installation of development- and pilot-scale equipment.
• Define requirements with process and technology experts and optimize designs.
• Interface with vendors, machine shops, and integrators to fabricate and evaluate equipment.
• Lead hands-on prototyping and testing as needed.
• Prepare technical material and design documentation for reviews.
• Coordinate across process areas to align system-level performance.
