Job summary

Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, LLC, Ohio facility seeks an Electrical Controls Design Engineer to deliver high-quality hardware, software, and safety design solutions for new models and technology introductions.

You will collaborate in an engineering team to design for production equipment, including PLC, HMI, motion control, and robotic programming, with on-site support and up to 20% travel across North American plants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a two-year electrical-related degree with experience.
• Two co-ops/internships in the field or 2–5 years designing industrial control systems.
• 75% office design work, 25% manufacturing floor installation/maturation.
• Willingness to conduct on-site testing on the floor or vendor sites, occasionally on weekends.
• Travel up to 20% within North American plants; possible international travel.

Responsibilities

• Work in an engineering team to understand design requirements and create/modify automated production equipment.
• Provide electrical design for engineering hardware, generate engineering data for assembly/build, and wire the control system for production equipment.
• Develop electrical design for engineering software to accomplish control tasks (PLC, HMI, motion control, robotics).
• Provide on-site support to install, system-up, and mature the control system for production equipment.
• Create and maintain a critical-path schedule for small to medium projects to meet milestones.
• Conduct and attend design reviews to ensure design standards are met.
• Continuously learn new skills/processes/technology to expand manufacturing knowledge.
