The Equipment and Controls Technician (E&C Tech) position is based at Kinder Morgan’s Southern Natural Gas Pipeline (SNG) Bear Creek Storage/Bienville Compressor Station, located at 10275 Highway 507, Bienville, LA 71008. It is a Monday through Friday role with on-call responsibilities during nights and weekends.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced Senior or Industrial Electricians, Mechanical Troubleshooters, Electrical and Controls Technicians, Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians (E&I Tech), Engineers, Controls, Compression Technicians, or similar roles. Experience with equipment from Caterpillar, Worthington, Cooper Bessemer, Clark, Waukesha, Siemens, and Allen Bradley is advantageous. PLC programming and Ladder Logic knowledge are preferred.

Primary Purpose:

Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical power circuits, mechanical equipment, control and automation systems, and electronic and pneumatic equipment used in pipeline, compressor stations, and plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical power circuits, control and automation systems, electronic and pneumatic equipment in pipeline and station operations.
  2. Install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and adjust mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, electronic, and PLC control systems.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
  4. Conduct Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on control systems.
  5. Maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution systems.
  6. Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair of station equipment.
  7. Conduct advanced testing on engines, compressors, and pumps; lead efforts to develop and implement improvements based on testing results.
  8. Assist corrosion and engineering teams with grounding system evaluations, development, and maintenance.
  9. Install, analyze, and repair security/intrusion systems.
  10. Maintain the general upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  11. Oversee construction and maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  12. Identify, report, and address safety and environmental concerns.
  13. Complete necessary documentation and paperwork.
  14. Work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  15. Practice safe handling techniques for products (gas & liquid).
  16. Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, and design of new facilities.
  17. Support the development of fellow technicians.
  18. Strive for operational excellence and demonstrate good performance.
  19. Mentor colleagues when opportunities arise.
  20. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  21. Commission new equipment and install conduit up to 2”.
  22. Pull large wires and terminate connections for circuits up to 480V.
  23. Install new mechanical stainless steel tubing and fittings.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
