Duties (including but not limited to):
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic testing, treatments, horse handling, and restraint.
  • Feed and water horses.
  • Clean and repair stalls.
  • Set up and maintain diagnostic and imaging equipment.
  • Administer medications to patients.
  • Collect, prepare, and label specimens (blood, urine, feces) for laboratory testing.
  • Administer vaccines and medications.
  • Use aseptic techniques for injections and intravenous catheterization.
  • Fill out various forms accurately.
  • Monitor patients and document any changes.
  • Assist with physical examinations and lameness assessments, including trotting.
  • Support dental procedures, including supporting the patient's head during procedures.
  • Assist with surgical procedures by administering sedation and monitoring patient vitals.
  • Perform light groundskeeping tasks.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited technical school (preferred, not required).
  • At least one (1) year of equine handling experience (required).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
  • Ability to jog for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to support patients during dental procedures.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology and anatomy.

This position is physically demanding and involves outdoor work and exposure to Texas heat. Bilingual English/Spanish is required.

Full-time hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a lunch break from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm (schedule may vary with emergencies).

Starting pay is $16.00/hour, based on experience and licensure.
