Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Equine Mortality Division is seeking an Associate Underwriting Supervisor or Underwriting Supervisor in Ocala, FL. This on-site role requires on-site four days per week with one remote day, leading a team and ensuring accurate underwriting decisions.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in a related field and 6+ years underwriting experience, with a preference for professional designation progress.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Generally, a minimum of 6 years of underwriting experience or a related field.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred.
• Exhibits strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the daily activities of the Equine Underwriting team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
• Reviews processing of new underwriting applications, ensuring they align with Company policies and underwriting guidelines.
• Reviews comprehensive risk assessments, policy statuses, and portfolio performance to ensure accuracy.
• Oversees the preparation and maintenance of underwriting files, ensuring all documents and approvals are properly filed.
• Facilitates effective communication with agents and customers to obtain information needed to underwrite risks and address issues.
• Requests or generates management reports to monitor and evaluate unit performance, client satisfaction, and other key business metrics.
• Oversees data entry and processing to ensure integrity and prevent potential systemic issues.
• Leads opportunities to streamline procedures and enhance efficiency. Ensures compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Provides technical guidance and training to clients on safety practices and regulatory compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
