Position Title: Equine Refuge & Programs Officer

Status: Exempt Full-Time – Experienced Level (Classification 8810)

Location: Craig, CO

Salary: $110,000 (DOE)

Benefits: Offered after 60 Days (Medical, Dental, Vision); 403(b) offered after 30 days (Voya)

Job Summary

Under the direct guidance of the Executive Director, Chief Science and Animal Welfare Officer, CAO, and CHRO, this position plans, organizes, manages, and supervises all aspects of employee and animal operations at the Horse Refuge’s Craig location.

Required Qualifications
  • Must reside locally; this is an in‑office non‑remote position.
  • Demonstrated initiative in proactively solving problems and recommending solutions that impact an organization’s success.
  • Strong ability to manage high volumes of emails, phone calls, and communications.
  • Proficient with office software such as Excel, Word, and related programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment, including adherence to photo‑taking and posting policies.
  • Ability to liaise with other departments to achieve common goals.
  • Experience with law enforcement or government coordination as required.
  • Adherence to all TWAS guidelines and directives.
Job Duties
  • Monitor all upcoming events, missions, or tasks related to the position.
  • Research projects and prepare travel projections.
  • Develop and coordinate outreach efforts statewide and globally.
  • Achieve organizational objectives and maintain effective networks of rescue community partnerships.
  • Provide and support resources for rescue missions, including events.
  • Manage all reporting documentation and track tasks in the database and filing system.
  • Analyze contract procedures and assist in implementing adjustments.
  • Maintain professional relationships with veterinarians and other stakeholders.
  • Perform regular data entry and research for assigned projects.
  • Prepare, edit, and oversee persuasive communications such as solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, and correspondence.
  • Oversee the refuge location, evaluating relationships, procedures, and departmental tasks.
  • Require regular travel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
