Job description

Job Title: Equine and Farm Animal Attendant (Temporary)

This temporary position involves maintaining a clean and sanitary hospital environment through routine stall and cage maintenance, cleaning, disinfection, and waste removal. The role includes restraining and providing basic husbandry for equine and farm animal patients. The position also serves as a backup for small animal hospital duties, with similar responsibilities.

Position Details
  • Work Schedule: Saturday to Tuesday, 3 pm - 12 am, with variations based on hospital needs and holidays.
  • Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; experience handling and restraining equine and farm animals; animal husbandry; cleaning and disinfection; basic facility maintenance skills.
  • Skills Needed: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs; operate equipment such as forklifts, pressure washers, and basic power tools; manage inventory; measure chemicals accurately; handle patients safely and humanely; effective communication; teamwork; adherence to safety policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in restraining and caring for horses and other large animals.
  • Experience working in a veterinary setting.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease control programs.
  • Familiarity with safety standards including OSHA and veterinary certifications like AAHA, AVMA.
