Job summary

Camp Augusta in Northern California is seeking an Equestrian Director to lead our summer equestrian program. You will manage a herd of 9-10 horses, ensure rider safety, and craft engaging lessons that integrate horses with other camp activities.

The role runs May 18 through August 14, 2027, with onsite housing and meals. Compensation ranges from $9,000 to $12,000 based on experience, plus training opportunities and CHA certification.

Qualifications

• 19 years or older by June 1, 2027.
• May 18th to August 14th, 2027.
• 2-3 years of riding experience in English/Western arena work; comfort in walk/trot flatwork.

Responsibilities

• Manage herd health & safety for 9-10 horses.
• Develop and execute creative equestrian programming.
• Assess and match riders to horses and activities for safety and fun.
• Maintain equipment and supplies for horse care and activities.
• Lead trail rides and explore local trails.
• Collaborate with camp staff across activities.
