Job summary

Maryland Legal Aid seeks a 24-month, full-time attorney Fellow in the Statewide Advocacy Support Unit based in Baltimore City with travel to Gaithersburg, MD. The role embeds fellows with the Financial Empowerment Project to provide free legal services focused on estate planning and asset preservation, helping close the racial wealth gap.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.
• Admitted to practice in Maryland or eligible for admission in Maryland.
• Direct civil legal services experience, including law school clinics or internships.
• Commitment to social justice and increasing access to justice for underserved communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct legal services to clients in estate planning and asset preservation.
• Develop and conduct training and outreach initiatives for clients and partners.
• Build relationships with community members to support long-term financial goals.
• Participate in collaborative learning with the Equal Justice Works cohort and attend trainings.
• Exercise leadership competencies as an Equal Justice Works Fellow.
• Contribute to program reporting and evaluation.
• Perform other duties within essential functions.
