Job summary

Advocate Health's Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center – Epilepsy department is seeking a skilled Epilepsy Technologist to support complex EEG procedures, monitor seizure activity, and assist with outpatient studies in a high-acuity environment.

The role is full-time with a night shift (4:30PM-5:30AM) on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, offering opportunities for collaboration with physicians and nursing staff across the Diagnostic Neurology service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED plus graduation from CAAHEP in Neurodiagnostic Technology or 18 months related field experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Epilepsy Technologist.
  • Obtains R.EEG T. through ABRET.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with application and removal of EEG electrodes and monitor data for seizure activity.
  • Review data for abnormalities and edits data for physician review.
  • Assist nursing staff with patients during seizures, ensuring patient safety and performing seizure testing during events.
  • Perform outpatient procedures such as PET, SPECT, Wada and ambulatory studies and CEEG in ICU settings.
  • Engage in intracranial monitoring in EMU and OR and support other areas of Diagnostic Neurology.
  • Maintain on-call responsibilities for EEG.

What You'll Need
  • High school diploma/GED and graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) in Neurodiagnostic Technology or 18 months experience in a related field required.
  • 3+ Years of experience as an Epilepsy Technologist.
  • Obtains R.EEG T., through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
What You'll Do
  • Subject Matter Expert and assist other Epilepsy Technologist with complex or unique matters.
  • Performs the application and removal of electrodes.
  • Reviews data for seizure activity and abnormalities.
  • Edits data for physician review.
  • Assists nursing staff with patients during seizures, maintaining patient safety.
  • Performs seizure testing with patients during their events.
  • Performs outpatient procedures such as PET, SPECT, Wada and Ambulatory studies.
  • Performs CEEG procedures in the ICU setting.
  • Performs intracranial monitoring in the EMU and OR.
  • Communicates with coworkers and physicians about changes in patient status.
  • Assists other areas of Diagnostic Neurology.
  • On call responsibilities for EEG.
