Job summary

The Nemours Foundation in Wilmington, DE seeks a Post Doctoral Fellow to conduct research on genetic forms of epilepsy within the Department of Neurology. A PhD in neuroscience or related biomedical sciences is preferred; prior epilepsy/rare NDD experience is a plus.

The role involves immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, cell culture, and data analysis across mouse and human systems. Strong writing and presentation skills are essential as is the ability to publish and contribute to grants.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology or related field is preferred.
• Candidates who have not yet earned a doctorate but will complete soon are encouraged to apply.
• Prior epilepsy or rare neurodevelopmental disorders research experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs a range of experiments under PI guidance.
• Conducts immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and related molecular assays.
• Performs animal handling and survival surgeries on mice.
• Executes in vivo electrophysiology experiments in rodents.
• Carries out cell culture with mouse and human cells.
• Performs clinical and non-clinical research data analysis.
• Performs statistical analyses and records results meticulously.
• Operates microscopy including confocal and live-cell imaging.
• Maintains organized handwritten and digital records.
• May work weekends or after hours as needed.
• Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills are required.
