Job summary

University of Chicago seeks a Research Analyst for the BSD PED - Pediatric Genetics and Genomics, Carvill Lab. You will perform molecular biology and genomics experiments, process sequencing libraries, and analyze data in collaboration with clinicians and geneticists.

Responsibilities include executing protocols, troubleshooting experiments, and contributing to publications, with opportunities for independent project advancement in a fully onsite laboratory.

Qualifications

• Minimum: college or university degree in related field.
• Experience < 2 years in a related job discipline.
• Exposure to CRISPR genome editing or lentiviral transduction.
• Familiarity with RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, or ChIP-seq.
• Basic familiarity with R, Python, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology and genomics experiments per established protocols including CRISPR-based genome editing, lentiviral transduction, and stem cell–derived neuronal models.
• Prepare and process libraries for ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and RNA-seq.
• Run data pipelines and summarize outputs for review.
• Assist with protein degradation experiments using degron systems and mass spectrometry.
• Collaborate with clinicians and researchers at Comer Children’s Hospital and Human Genetics.
• Maintain lab documentation and contribute to project design and interpretation.
