Job summary

Salinas Valley Health Medical Center is seeking an Epic Manager to lead Epic EHR applications across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will oversee implementation projects, build system functionality, and train nurses, physicians and staff on Epic capabilities.

Under the Director of Enterprise Informatics, you will drive project management, testing, and post-implementation training, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and data reporting to support population health initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Epic Certification (or Accreditation) required in Epic Resolute Professional Billing and Epic Resolute Hospital Billing.
  • Two (2) years’ healthcare leadership experience required.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in a healthcare related clinical environment with focus on clinical information systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and patient care workflows in acute care facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Epic EHR and PM system implementations and coordinate support.
  • Supervise staff performance, training, and competency development.
  • Oversee discovery sessions, project build, testing/validation, training and optimization.
  • Educate and train users on Epic EHR and PM applications; assist with upgrades.

Department: EPIC Acute Under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Informatics, the Epic Manager is responsible for leadership of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) Applications in which they have been assigned. The Epic Manager will play a key role in executing executive leadership’s strategies through project management of the EHR system implementations, maintenance, training nurses, physicians and other inpatient/outpatient staff on system functionality, building system tables and design, testing system upgrades, and providing pre and post-implementation training. The Epic Manager will have responsibility for implementing the organization’s strategic plan to inpatient and ambulatory medical informatics projects, serving as a resource for SVHMC, SVHC and community physician practices on topics relevant to EHRs and any emerging regulatory requirements that relate to their effective use.

Primary Duties
  • Serves as the lead for Epic EHR and/or PM system implementations.
  • Responsible for coordinating and oversight of Epic application support.
  • Serves as the primary super user for Epic software applications.
  • Provides guidance, organization and support for various Epic EHR and third-party application implementations at SVHMC and SVHC.
  • Provides leadership and supervision regarding departmental performance by completing evaluations, maintaining staff competency and development, adequate staffing, and assures all work in specified areas is completed while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Is a role model for departmental behavior, and provides and promotes a positive working environment for departmental staff to ensure strong employee morale, motivation and productivity.
  • Supervises the operational workflow to ensure the department’s role and function in the organization supports the delivery of the highest possible standard of patient care, and customer service for staff and visitors within the available resources.
  • Serves a key role in implementing new information systems by mastering the technical and operational components of the system in order to educate and train users.
  • Oversee all facets of Epic projects, including but not limited to discovery sessions, project build, testing and validation, training and optimization.
  • Works in collaboration with SVH IT.
  • Assists with system upgrades, including build, testing and validation.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of Epic EHR and PM software applications training curriculum for end-users.
  • Provides data analysis and report generation as requested and supports population health initiatives.
  • Works with population health leads to build out regulatory changes that will affect EHR and PM workflows.
  • Responsibility for maintaining processes and procedures compliant with HIPAA standards.
  • Assists with departmental accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy of charges to clinics for EHR and PM services provided.
  • Assists with maintaining up to date financial records and budgetary information related to projects.
  • Participates in organizational committees and initiatives, incorporating system solutions and development activities, to assists other departments and affiliates with software applications implementations.
  • Support Change Management, Change Control, Project Management and other key department initiatives while leveraging departmental and Epic tools to stay organized (OneNote, FreshService, Epic CMT, Orion, Nova, Sherlock).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Licensure: Epic Certification (or Accreditation) required in the following applications: Epic Resolute Professional Billing and Epic Resolute Hospital Billing.
  • New hires and transfers have 45 days after Epic training to complete required Epic Certification/Accreditation.
  • Training and certification timeline must be completed with 90 days of employment.
  • Experience: Two (2) years’ healthcare leadership experience required.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in a healthcare related clinical environment with a focus on clinical information systems.
  • Working knowledge of the process and delivery of patient care services in an acute care facility and office practice environment.
  • Understanding of the supporting activities in clinical services, ancillary departments, financial services, medical records, utilization review, quality assurance, the admitting/registration functions, and billing and collections.
Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is $72.45 - $90.55. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location; for remote employees, compensation is determined by the employee’s primary work location.
