Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. seeks a Senior Project Engineer to administer the field office and help drive project profitability and schedule adherence.

Based on a full-time on-site role in El Paso, TX, the position requires travel and collaboration with field teams to execute solar, storage, and substation projects nationwide. Qualified candidates will have an engineering/CM background with at least two years as a Project Engineer, strong reading of plans, and solid communication in English.

• Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree or certificate.
• Minimum 2 years as Project Engineer.
• Field experience desirable.
• Basic estimating and scheduling skills.
• Ability to read plans and specs.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Independent judgment and self-starting.
• Drafting and computer skills desirable.

Responsibilities

• Administer field office to achieve project profitability and schedule goals.
• Attend and document project meetings.
• Set up and maintain project filing system.
• Update drawings, specifications, and logs.
• Distribute documents to subcontractors and log them.
• Assist with CPM schedules and master CPM schedule.
• Prepare and maintain RFI, submittal, and expediting logs.

Job Summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for the administration of field office to achieve project profitability and schedule goals. This role is located full-time on a jobsite in El Paso, TX and will require travel. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

• Able to perform all essential Project Engineer responsibilities
• Attend and document project meetings (write minutes)
• Set up and maintain project filing system
• Update and maintain all sets of drawings, specifications and logs
• Distribute all documents to subcontractors, maintain document logs
• Assist with preparation of CPM schedules
• Assist with updating and maintaining master CPM schedule
• Evaluate field problems and document RFI’s
• Prepare and maintain RFI logs on CMIC system
• Review, evaluate, and transmit submittals
• Prepare and maintain submittal logs
• Prepare and maintain expediting log
• Perform expediting functions
• Verify original estimate quantities for labor cost reports
• Report quantities in place and maintain labor cost report
• Cost code and/or verify correct codes on time sheets
• Prepare and document extra work orders
• Review and assemble change order submittals and quantity surveys
• Maintain reference log on CMIC
• Maintain progress photo album
• Compile contract close out documents (O&M manuals, as builts, etc.)
• Document punch list work
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

• Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years as Project Engineer
• Field experience desirable – e.g. carpenter
• Basic estimating and scheduling skills
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
• Effective written and verbal English language communication skills
• Ability to use independent judgment; self-starting
• Drafting and computer skills desirable
