Job summary

AES Clean Energy is seeking an EPC Project Manager to oversee high-impact photovoltaic solar and energy storage projects through development, construction, commissioning, and turnover to Operations. The successful candidate will lead due diligence on potential acquisitions, define EPC scopes, and act as an Owner's Project Manager to coordinate progress of active construction projects.

The role reports to the Director of Project Management and requires the ability to manage distributed generation

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years in construction project management; renewable energy experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with PV solar design and civil/structural knowledge.
  • Experience in distributed generation or utility-scale PV; energy storage preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel, CPM scheduling, and MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong partner management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document RFPs and scope of work; participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential solar sites and review related reports.
  • Act as Owner's Representative for EPC contract management on PV solar and energy storage projects.
  • Review and manage EPC contractor schedules, budgets, scope, and permits.
  • Coordinate utility interconnection processes for construction projects and related docs.
  • Engage with project stakeholders and represent AES with landowners, agencies, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional approvals as needed.
  • Coordinate with EPCs and equipment vendors to meet contract terms and deliverables.
  • Lead internal teams and EPC contractor deliverables across engineering, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, and accounting.
  • Ensure quality control and safe construction practices through on-site inspections.
  • Lead project status meetings with AES management and stakeholders.
  • Manage project documentation and turnover to Asset Operations.
  • Assist in developing internal policies and procedures.
  • Travel up to 30%.

AES Clean Energy is currently seeking an EPC Project Manager to oversee high impact photovoltaic solar and energystorage projects through development, construction, commissioning, and turnover to Operations. The successfulcandidate will assist in due diligence on potential project acquisitions, lead construction planning activities, define EPCscopes of work for projects nearing construction, and act as an Owner's Project Manager to plan and coordinate progress ofactive construction projects. This position will report to the Director of Project Management. The role requires the abilityto manage high impact distributed generation and utility scale projects and portfolios and to travel periodically to projectlocations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and document RFPs and scope of work packages for 3rd party EPC firms. Participate in EPC selection andcontract negotiation.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential solar sites, evaluate the suitability of identified sites and participate in duediligence review, analysis of various reports (i.e. environmental, geo-tech, etc.).
  • Act as the Owner's Representative for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract Management onhigh impact PV solar and energy storage projects in the US.
  • Review and manage EPC Contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance
  • Manage and coordinate utility interconnection processes for construction projects and related documentation neededfor project interconnection and testing
  • Manage engagements with project stakeholders and act as a representative of the company for interactions withlandowners, local governmental agencies, customers, contractors, equipment and materials suppliers, and othercustomers.
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional approval processes as needed for project construction.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and equipment vendors to ensure adherence to and compliance with contract terms and delivery of contractual deliverables in accordance with the project budget and schedule.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of internal team of project engineering, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, and accounting staff as well as deliverables of EPC Contractor, project stakeholders,and regulatory and permitting authorities.
  • Ensure project quality control and safe construction practices by conducting on-site inspections as needed,coordinating with 3rd party firms if necessary.
  • Lead project status update meetings with AES management, energy off-takers, utilities, EPCs, and financecounterparties, facilitating discussions with a detailed project plan and high-level status dashboard.
  • Manage the collection, organization and filing of all project documentation, both internally and for external third-partyteam members and project financing needs
  • Lead the coordination of project turnover exercises from Construction to the Asset Operations team for assigned projects.
  • Assist with the development of internal operating policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various project locations up to 30%.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years professional experience in a construction project management role is required, renewable energy projectexperience preferred.
  • Require familiarity with photovoltaic solar design and technical standards as well as civil and structural technicalknowledge.
  • Experience in distributed generation or utility scale PV solar project construction required, experience in energystorage preferred
  • Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, CPM scheduling, and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Superior partner management skills required
  • Outstanding social skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties duringstressful situations.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $108,000 and $135,150/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus.
