Job description

Quanta Power Solutions brings together the industry-leading capabilities and resources of Quanta's operating companies to deliver complete EPC solutions. Our integrated approach spans power generation, battery energy storage, renewables, transmission, substation, and underground infrastructure — from concept to commissioning, we execute complex power infrastructure projects with the speed, certainty, and operational excellence our customers depend on.

At Quanta Power Solutions, we are driven by a culture of safety, integrity, and disciplined execution — and we're building a team that shares that commitment.

About This Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced EPC Project Director with a proven track record leading large-scale EPC power generation projects, specifically focused on gas-fired power plants. This role provides overall leadership and direction for major energy infrastructure projects, including combined-cycle, simple-cycle, and other thermal generation facilities.

This position is ideal for senior professionals with extensive experience directing power generation facility construction projects across the full EPC lifecycle, from engineering and procurement through construction, startup, and commissioning. Candidates whose experience is limited to substations, transmission & distribution (T&D), or grid-only projects will not be considered for this role.

The EPC Project Director will have overall responsibility for project execution, financial performance, client relationships, and organizational leadership. This individual will establish project strategy, lead multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, successfully, and in accordance with contractual, financial, and operational objectives.

What You'll Do
  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for the execution of large-scale EPC gas‑fired power generation projects from project development and engineering through construction, startup, and commissioning.
  • Establish project execution strategies, objectives, priorities, and performance expectations to support successful project delivery.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and overall financial performance.
  • Provide executive-level leadership and direction to project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Serve as the primary senior‑level interface with clients, executive stakeholders, major vendors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
  • Maintain accountability for project financial performance, including cost controls, forecasting, cash flow, change management, and commercial outcomes.
  • Oversee contract administration, project risk management, procurement strategies, and resolution of major project issues.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, proactively addressing challenges and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure project execution aligns with contractual obligations, client requirements, company standards, and safety expectations.
  • Lead resource planning, organizational development, staffing strategies, and deployment of project leadership personnel.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide executive oversight of construction execution, startup, and commissioning to ensure successful project completion and turnover.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive EPC project leadership experience supporting gas‑fired or coal‑fired power generation facilities.
  • Direct experience leading combined‑cycle, simple‑cycle, or other thermal power plant construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success directing large-scale, complex EPC projects across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Extensive knowledge of EPC project execution, construction management, contract administration, and project financial controls.
  • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary project organizations and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience overseeing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project risk, resolve complex execution challenges, and drive accountability across project teams.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting renewable or hybrid generation projects, including solar, wind, or battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Prior EPC leadership experience supporting utility‑scale or industrial clients, including data centers, manufacturing facilities, or other high‑load consumers.
  • Experience overseeing startup, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
  • Familiarity with major industrial construction contracts, commercial negotiations, and procurement strategies.
  • Experience managing multiple large‑scale projects or overseeing a portfolio of capital projects.
  • Experience with combined‑cycle and simple‑cycle preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% nationwide.
  • Ability to support activities in the Birmingham, Alabama office as required.
  • Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations.
