Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab professional to assist physicians in cath and EP procedures while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety. The role involves scrub duties, equipment preparation, and support across adolescent to geriatric patients.

Under physician supervision, you will deploy and manage catheters and other supplies, operate imaging equipment, and document clinical data to ensure high-quality care and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

  • RCIS, RRT, CRT, RT, RCVT required; EMT-P license accepted in lieu of registry.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as scrub assistant to the credentialed Physician throughout procedures.
  • Preps procedure room and equipment; maintains sterile technique.
  • Assists with vascular sheath removal and hemostasis when credentialed.
  • Operates fluoroscopy and digital radiological equipment; ensures proper documentation.
  • Documents procedure data in EMR and supports PI program and process improvement initiatives.

Job Summary Under the supervision of a credentialed Physician, assists in cardiac Cath lab procedures and EP procedures while maintaining a sterile field. Performs various procedures that require independent judgment and high level of skill proficiency. Assists with care of critically ill patients. The scope of care includes age group adolescent thru geriatric.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: RCIS, RRT, CRT, RT, RCVT required. In lieu of registry, EMT-P license will be accepted. Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum Experience: One (1) year work experience in area of registry or license.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Preferred Licensure or other certifications: NASPE.
  • Preferred Educational Requirements: Associates Degree in Allied Health field.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

Functions as a scrub assistant to the credentialed Physician throughout entire procedure. Ensures that correct patient data is in the x-ray equipment and that correct technical factors for each patient are selected to achieve optimal picture quality. Preps the procedure room and equipment for procedure to be performed, to include cleaning, removal of trash, and restocking of room between cases. Maintains sterile technique throughout invasive procedures. Prepares for procedure in terms of sterile supplies required. Ensures patients are prepped and draped appropriately, maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Assists the Physician during the specialized procedure as evidenced by knowledge of selected equipment, selection and care of catheters, guidewires, and other necessary supplies. Trained in vascular sheath removal with adequate hemostasis. If credentialed, has ability to deploy vascular closure devices using proper sterile technique. Performs and rotates through functions of scrub, circulating (not administering medications), and monitoring positions. Demonstrates the ability to operate/maintain specialized equipment. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots fluoroscopy and digital radiological equipment. Ensures that required pre-, intra-, and post- procedure documentation is present and accurate when documenting in employee EMR. Prepares and operates specialized equipment found in the EP Lab environment. Performs and documents daily operational functions on procedure room equipment on designated documentation form. Ensures that patient procedures/supply charges are accurate. Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional development. Assists in orientation of new staff and/or serves as a mentor. Assists with supervision of prn staff. Serves as a facilitator between staff and Manager providing feedback as necessary. Completes unit based skills annually. Attends mandatory educational classes pertaining to new equipment, procedures, supplies, and new technology. Responsible for continuing education for required certifications. Assists with the documentation for the department’s PI program and participates in the department's process improvement initiatives. Performs special projects/duties as requested and according to established time frames.
