Job summary

Tufts Medical Center in Boston seeks an Electrophysiology Technologist to support advanced cardiac care in a fast-paced EP lab. You will assist in diagnostic studies, ablations, device implants, and emergent procedures alongside top electrophysiologists.

The role offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for new external hires, a 4x10 schedule from 6:00am to 4:30pm with a rotating day off, and no weekends, call, holidays, or overnights. Benefits begin Day 1 and opportunities for career growth are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Radiologic Technologist RT Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • RCES Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the EP Lab for procedures, including setting up the sterile table and supplies.
  • Assists in room turnover between procedures.
  • Preps patient access site and maintains sterility during procedures.
  • Sets up, operates, troubleshoots EP equipment and ensures proper functioning.
  • Documents procedure charges, supplies, fluoroscopy time, radiation dose and contrast dosage.

Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Cardiology related duties: Evaluates physical conditions related to blood flow and pressure in the coronary arteries and heart chambers by utilizing specialized imaging and other diagnostic techniques. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An entry-level role typically requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Work is routine or follows standard procedures, is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.

Job Overview

This position plays a crucial role in delivering quality patient care by assisting in electrophysiology procedures. Collaborating with other members of the care team, this role is responsible for promoting the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center. Team members display high level abilities and advanced clinical practice while maintaining a willingness to learn and grow in the rapidly changing world of electrophysiology.

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree OR ;
  2. Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic technologist with Radiology Technologist (RT) Certification.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Prepares the EP Lab for procedures, including setting up the sterile procedure table and ensuring all necessary supplies and apparel are available.
  2. Assists in clean up and turnover of room in preparation for following procedure.
  3. Assists preparing patient for electrophysiology procedures, including prepping access site(s) and properly draping patient in the fashion that corresponds to the procedure, while maintaining standards of sterility.
  4. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots and maintains Electrophysiology equipment, ensuring their proper functioning during procedures.
  5. Among the expected skills to perform these duties:
    • - Hemodynamic monitoring
    • - Scrubbing, prepping and draping for cardiac devices and ablations
    • - Mapping system and ablation set up
    • - Operating the recording system and stimulator
    • - Baseline intracardiac measurements
    • - Pacing from different catheters for the purpose of checking thresholds
    • - Burst pacing for arrhythmia induction
    • - Assessing for pulmonary vein isolation
    • - Pacing for phrenic nerve capture
    • - Assessing for bidirectional block across flutter lines
    • - Pacing for the purpose of entrainment and measurement of post pacing intervals
    • - Basics of assessing for dual AV nodal physiology and preexcitation
    • - Measurement of QRS duration and left ventricular activation times for physiologic/conduction system pacing
    • - Understanding of basics of pacemaker and ICD programmers
    • - Assessment of lead parameters (sensing, impedance and threshold)
  6. Accurately documents procedure charges, supply charges, fluoroscopy time and radiation dose, and contrast dosage.
