Job summary

ADM’s Corporate Research Center in Decatur, IL seeks a Scientist I – Enzyme Downstream Processing to join the Process Chemistry and Catalysis Team. You will assist in enzyme production, recovery, purification, and characterization, applying bench- to pilot-scale methods and documenting results in ELN.

This role requires close collaboration with fermentation, pilot plant, analytical, strain development, and plant operations to develop robust enzyme processes, troubleshoot effectively, and drive

Qualifications

• Experience with lab-scale enzyme downstream processing (clarification, filtration, concentration, buffer exchange).
• Ability to execute scientific experiments and document results in an ELN environment.
• Ability to work independently and in a cross-disciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication, detail-oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab and pilot-scale downstream processing activities.
• Generate and analyze data to support enzyme process development programs.
• Develop robust and scalable downstream processes; maintain equipment and troubleshoot.
• Provide feedback to fermentation and plant operations teams to meet project goals.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Process Chemistry, Pilot Plant, Fermentation, and Plant Operations.
• Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance with lab standards.
