Job summary

Ace Hardware Home Services, Inc. is hiring an HVAC technician in New Jersey. The role involves diagnosing and repairing heating, cooling, and IAQ systems, selling repairs and replacements, and assisting with installations sold.

You will communicate with customers and team members and manage a company-provided truck. Sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates. Requirements include a minimum of 5 years in the trade and a valid US driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in HVAC trade.
• A valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of US driving experience.
• Positive attitude and respect for customers.
• Deep understanding of heating, AC and IAQ equipment and HVAC designs.
• Willingness to work late when required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose HVAC issues: heat, no AC, improper cooling, noisy units or leaks.
• Sell repairs or replacements for furnaces, boilers, condensers, heat pumps, and related equipment.
• Assist in installation preparation and completion of sold jobs.
• Communicate with customers, coworkers, managers and vendors.
• Maintain an orderly, fully stocked company truck to take home.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnosing; No heat, no AC, not enough cooling, fan only, loud noises from unit, leaking around unit, etc


• Selling Repairs / replacements of furnaces, boilers, condensers, package units, coils, humidifiers, water heaters, circulators, zone controls, heat pumps, air handlers, etc


• Assist in the preparation and completion of Installs that you sold


• Communicating with customers, co-workers, managers, and vendors


• Maintain an orderly, clean, and fully stocked company truck of which you are provided to take home

What You Need To Succeed

• A minimum 5 years experience in the trade


• A valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of US driving experience, is required for this role


• A positive attitude with a willingness to treat our customers with the utmost respect.


• A deep understanding of heating, AC, and IAQ equipment and HVAC system designs


• Enthusiasm to learn and grow


• The ability to treat your time in our client's home as an invited guest.


• Ability to work late when the job at hand requires it

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to work on HVAC units.


• Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.


• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.


• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
