Job summary

Novelis Bay Minette is seeking an Environmental Waste Management Coordinator to develop and manage waste programs across the facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role acts as the site SME for waste characterization, storage, disposal, and recycling, collaborating with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of environmental compliance experience, strong knowledge of RCRA and EPA rules, and be proficient

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Sustainability, or related field.
• Three to five years of environmental compliance or waste management experience.
• Strong knowledge of RCRA, EPA regulations, waste characterization, and recycling programs.
• Experience managing waste manifests, regulatory reporting, and environmental documentation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental compliance software.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage hazardous, non-hazardous, universal, and recyclable waste programs.
• Ensure compliance with RCRA, EPA regulations, Alabama ADEM requirements, and permit conditions.
• Perform hazardous waste determinations and profiling for all waste streams.
• Maintain waste storage locations, satellite/central areas, and waste transfer operations.
• Oversee waste manifests, disposal documentation, and regulatory records.
• Prepare annual, biennial, and regulatory waste reports.
• Track waste generation metrics, recycling performance, and disposal costs.
• Develop waste reduction strategies and coordinate recycling programs for recoverable resources.
• Conduct routine inspections and lead corrective actions; support audits.
