The Land & Water Resources Division (LWRD) specifically provides land use and harbor management planning, regulatory, and technical services related to the management and protection of Long Island Sound and its resources, water-dependent uses, and inland wetlands and watercourses. LWRD directly processes and reviews coastal resource permit applications; conducts investigations of violations of environmental laws and initiates appropriate enforcement actions; assists municipal partners in their administration of coastal land use and inland wetland and watercourse regulations; manages a coastal public access program and a harbor master program; administers and implements the Long Island Sound Blue Plan; provides federal and state coastal consistency reviews; and coordinates and implements a variety of habitat restoration, land conservation, and resource mapping initiatives.
