Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies Corp. is seeking an Environmental Test Technician to operate and maintain our environmental test lab, testing spacecraft, sub-assemblies, and components under simulated space conditions.

You will handle TVAC and other chambers, use data acquisition systems, and document results precisely while supporting troubleshooting and continuous improvement. The role offers equity and robust benefits with on-site meals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in test, manufacturing, or production environments.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted.
  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends during critical test campaigns (24/7 operations).
  • Capability to work 12-hour shifts during mission-critical operations.
  • Shift Start Times: 1st shift – 6:00 am; 2nd shift – 3:30 pm (start time may vary based on operational needs).

Responsibilities

  • Independently operate thermal vacuum (TVAC) chambers, thermal chambers, and electrodynamic shakers for component and vehicle-level testing.
  • Utilize a wide range of test equipment and data acquisition systems, including building and maintaining specialized test setups.
  • Proficiently use a variety of software tools and services for test automation, data analysis, documentation, and procurement.
  • Perform tests and verifications of flight hardware to test requirements, documenting results in a clear, precise and complete manner to meet product quality standards.
  • Responsible for maintenance and calibration activities of test equipment.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, assembly procedures, test procedures, etc.
  • Support engineering troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
  • Assist with area efficiency and 5S improvement projects.
  • Use mechanical hand tools and torque wrenches for various test setups.

Environmental Test Technician

As an Environmental Test Technician you will have the unique responsibility of testing our spacecraft, its sub-assemblies, and components through the simulated harsh environments of space. You will also be responsible for operating and maintaining our world‑class environmental test lab to ensure its equipment and facilities are always ready to support mission‑critical test campaigns.

  • Experience mentoring or training technical personnel

Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional‑grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

Base Hourly Pay: $25 – $52 USD
