Job summary

Astranis in Northern California, USA, is hiring an Assembly, Integration, and Test Technician to assemble and test spacecraft and ground support equipment. You’ll integrate spacecraft with engineering models, maintain logs, and calibrate test systems in a clean-room environment.

Base pay ranges from $30–$40 USD per hour with equity and robust benefits, including healthcare, 401(k) and flexible PTO. Expect 50 hours per week across first and second shifts; willingness to travel for off-site

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in assembly, manufacturing or maintenance.
  • Able to read drawings, test plans and follow procedures.
  • Capable of clean room spacecraft integration tasks.
  • Able to operate cranes, man lifts, and handling equipment.
  • Experienced with general hand tools and torque wrenches.
  • Familiar with Windows-style PCs and basic software.
  • Good communication and teamwork, physically capable of lifting 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test spacecraft and ground support equipment.
  • Integrate spacecraft using engineering models and procedures.
  • Maintain paperwork: work instructions, test logs.
  • Set up and calibrate test equipment for functional and environmental tests.
  • Perform spacecraft lifting and handling operations.
  • Test subsystems: comms, telemetry, propulsion, power, thermal.
  • Operate test consoles and collaborate to develop build procedures.

Assembly, Integration, and Test Technician

Role
  • Assemble and test spacecraft and ground support equipment
  • Assemble and integrate the spacecraft using engineering models and procedures. Assemblies include structural parts and mechanisms, RF waveguides, antenna, electronic boxes, harnesses, coax cables, thermal blankets
  • Maintain paperwork – work instructions, connector mate logs, test logs
  • Set up, adjust, and calibrate standard test equipment to conduct functional and environmental testing using test procedures
  • Perform spacecraft lifting and handling operations
  • Perform spacecraft testing of communications, telemetry and command, thermal, power, and propulsion subsystems per the applicable procedure
  • Operate subassembly and spacecraft pressure test consoles
  • Collaborate with production engineers to develop and document build procedures
Requirements
  • 2+ years of fundamental experience in assembly, manufacturing or maintenance
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, test plans, and work to procedures
  • Ability to perform spacecraft integration tasks in clean room environment
  • Ability to operate cranes, man lifts, tugs & handling equipment
  • Experience working with general hand tools and torque wrenches
  • Familiar with Windows‑style PC operating systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Climbing ladders, long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
  • Willing and able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as required
  • Willing and able to travel to support off‑site launch site processing and environmental testing

Bonus
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with handling and integrating space flight components and spacecraft environmental testing
  • Experience with pneumatics or hydraulics
  • Experience in operating cranes, man lifts, forklifts, and handling equipment
  • Hands‑on experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectral analyzers, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience in environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, burn‑in, and TVAC.
Hours

50 hours a week expectation for our production team. First and second shift availability.

Compensation and Benefits

All positions offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.

Base pay ranges from $30–$40 USD per hour. Compensation also includes a significant equity package via incentive stock options, high‑quality company‑subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and free on‑site catered meals.
